Council Members Attend Southwest Border Tour in Arizona and California:
From December 5th - 8th, twenty-eight Council members participated in a Southwest Border Executive Tour to Arizona and California. The purpose of the tour was for industry executives to gain a better understanding of the dynamics, communication, coordination and strategic approach to the manpower, technology, and infrastructure needed to secure the Southwest Border of the United States. Over the course of four days, Council members visited the Joint Field Command and Joint Intelligence Operations Center in Tucson, Arizona; the Ports of Entry in Nogales, Arizona and San Diego, California; the San Diego Law Enforcement Coordination Center; the San Diego Border Patrol Headquarters in Chula Vista, California; and the Air and Marine Operations Center in Riverside, California. In addition to these tours, members also participated in a number of roundtable discussions on the challenges that local, state, and federal officials face in securing the border and facilitating lawful travel and trade. Members met with officials from the Department of Defense's Joint Task Force North, the Arizona Governor's Office, the Arizona - Mexico Commission, Senator McCain's Tucson Office, local and state law enforcement officials, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Coast Guard, FBI, and Customs and Border Protection, specifically representatives from the Office of Border Patrol, Office of Field Operations, and Office of Air and Marine.
