Marc Pearl, President & CEO
Marc Pearl has led the Homeland Security & Defense Business Council since 2008. Prior to coming to the Council, Marc headed IT Policy Solutions, which he founded in 2003 to counsel private sector organizations in meeting their public policy challenges, and concurrently served as Executive Director of the Consumer Electronics Retailers Coalition. He was a partner and led the e-commerce policy practice at the international law firm, Shaw Pittman LLP, after serving as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Government Affairs at the Information Technology Association of America. Marc served as Chief of Staff and Legislative Counsel to Members of Congress, including former U.S. Representative Dan Glickman, when he chaired the House Intelligence Committee.
Pearl has focused his professional work for more than 30 years advising companies on how to best leverage their business acumen, capabilities and thought leadership as trusted advisors in/to the public sector. His members and clients have included a wide range of Fortune 100 companies and CEO-participating associations in a multitude of critical sectors of the economy. He has helped form and lead coalitions that focused on bringing diverse voices into a collective message on such issues that led to the passage of Y2K millennium bug liability, digital authentication, e-commerce transaction jurisdiction and DTV transition legislation. Over the past decade-plus he has applied his expertise in developing models of substantive engagement and communication between industry and government in the Homeland Security Enterprise space to achieve mission success.
Marc has represented the private sector on US Government delegations at The Hague Conference on Private International Law, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the World Trade Organization. He received his B.A. with honors from Case Western Reserve University and his J.D. from Emory University. His grasp of the federal, state/local and global policy issues important to industry, together with his non-partisan approach to policymaking have made him an invaluable resource to clients and a trusted advisor to numerous decision makers.
