Graduate Fellow Position at the Homeland Security & Defense Business Council

The Homeland Security & Defense Business Council (HSDBC) is seeking a hard-working and energetic Graduate Fellow to work approximately 15 hours a week on a range of substantive and administrative activities in a small but highly collaborative office environment

The individual must be a team player, possess excellent writing and research skills, and have an interest in and an aptitude for homeland security policy issues and the federal marketplace. The successful candidate will have exceptional analytical abilities, organizational and logistical skills, and be resourceful in discerning staff and membership needs to support the Council’s mission. The Fellow will need to be able to balance a diverse array of tasks and handle multiple supervisors on various projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include –

  • Researching and assisting in compiling information on topics and speakers for HSDBC events, and summarizing homeland security policy issues for HSDBC programs;

  • Preparing background materials for staff presentations;

  • Collecting, drafting and distributing a bi-weekly News Roundup for HSDBC members;

  • Assisting in the development of external communications for the broader homeland security community;

  • Contributing to the administrative support for programs and initiatives;

  • Having knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite of applications, as well as various email and social media platforms; and

  • Being able to juggle several substantive and administrative responsibilities in support of the Council and its members.

Additional Details

The Council’s office is located in downtown NW Washington, DC near Dupont Circle/Farragut North, just west of Georgetown. The organization is flexible in terms of days and hours in the office.
